Empowering Women Through Sport: Steps Towards Promoting Social Inclusion

Abstract

This research aims to empower women through sports: Steps towards promoting social inclusion. The research method was qualitative research with a thematic analysis approach. The statistical population of the research included all elite female athletes in sports in the country. The sample selection was carried out in the required number to reach theoretical saturation and was carried out using the snowball sampling method (16 people). The research tool was an exploratory interview. The validity of the research results was confirmed based on the professional competence of the interviewed sample, the content validity of the interview framework, and the level of agreement of the coding correctors (2 expert researchers: 0.73). Data analysis was carried out using three-stage coding in accordance with the research method. The results showed that 251 codes were identified and therefore 25 sub-themes were coded within the framework of 8 main themes: competitions and competitions, development of sports infrastructure, financial support and economic resources, education and empowerment, social acceptance and participation, media and social coverage, management and leadership, and culture and general education.
Promoting social inclusion in women's sport can lead to increased self-confidence and self-esteem among women, expanded career and social opportunities, and strengthened local and global communities.
